Aisha Khalid is one of Pakistans leading artists, with a prominent reputation both internationally and within her own country. Aisha Khalid was born in 1972 in Faisalabad (Pakistan) and currently lives and works in Lahore, (Pakistan). She completed her degree in miniature painting in 1972 at the National College of Arts, Lahore from where she then went onto teaching and in 2000 undertook a two-year residency at the world famous Rijks Academy, Amsterdam. Aisha takes the intricate methods of miniature painting and transforms them into large scale pieces. Her original curriculum focused on the revival of the traditional miniature painting style of the Mughal, Deccani, Pahari, Rajput and Persian schools. Aisha has exhibited widely in Europe, USA, Australia and Asia including international biennials and art fairs. She has artwork in collections worldwide. Aishas exhibition at Pump House Gallery was her first solo show in a UK public gallery and the most comprehensive study of her work to-date.
